DIRI is committed to ensuring that our platform is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or technology. We believe digital rights education should be available to every young Ugandan, including those with disabilities.
What We Are Doing
- Using clear, semantic HTML structure for screen reader compatibility.
- Providing descriptive alt text for all images and icons.
- Ensuring sufficient colour contrast between text and backgrounds.
- Supporting keyboard navigation throughout the platform.
- Offering content in multiple Ugandan local languages.
- Making the Mr. DIRI chatbot available on WhatsApp for users who prefer messaging over web browsing.
Ongoing Improvements
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We regularly review our platform against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 standards and make improvements as we identify areas that can be better.
