Team Netizens is a group of students and innovators from Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) passionate about digital rights, internet governance, and youth empowerment in Uganda.

DIRI was created as part of the IGF Hackathon — a challenge to build solutions that promote digital rights awareness and internet literacy among young people. The team identified a gap: while digital rights affect every young Ugandan, the information is often buried in policy documents and legal jargon that is hard to understand.

DIRI changes that by turning complex topics into interactive lessons, weekly quizzes, and an AI chatbot that speaks your language — literally.

Our Mission

To equip every young Ugandan with the knowledge and tools to understand, exercise, and defend their digital rights.

Our Vision

A Uganda where every citizen is digitally aware, safe, and empowered to participate in the digital society.

Partners

DIRI is built in partnership with Wota Creators and Tech Journal, who support our mission to make digital rights education accessible to all.
